Working on Fighting the Frenzy has been a difficult experience. Struggling with heavy depression, it has been difficult for me to complete the amount of work I wanted to in order to make a spectacular project. However, this was also a great learning experience. I wanted to make an audiobook with sound effects and music to create a more immersive listening experience. I find that music often inspires me to write, but I can’t include that element in simple text. That was where the idea for Fighting the Frenzy was born.

A great challenge proved to be audio balancing. With narration, sound effects, and music, it is important to make sure every element blends together. Otherwise, listeners will be taken out of the experience. Collaboration was a key factor in completing even a single chapter. I commissioned an artist to make cover art for the story, and a composer to make music for the chapter. With their help, I was able to make Fighting the Frenzy the best it could be.

Once chapter 1 was completed, I wanted to push myself even further for chapter 2. Taking advantage of the setting, I wrote a flashy magical battle. In the video for chapter 2, this battle had not only sound effects to accompany it, but visual effects as well. This showed the furthest level this medium of storytelling can be brought to, and pushed on the level of creativity that can be seen in audiobooks.
