Ready your weapons

The worst has come to pass: your homeworld is under attack, your shipmates are M.I.A., and itā€™s up to you to survive long enough to save them. Outgun and outmaneuver your enemies and you might just live to see a more peaceful tomorrow.

Pax Stellae is a work-in-progress 2D fixed shooter game inspired by games like Space Invaders and Galaga.

Drawn in Procreate. Powered by Godot.

All of the assets for this project were drawn using a Logitech Crayon stylus and Procreate on an iPad. The game itself was made using Godot, an open source 2D and 3D game engine, and was coded in GDScript.

The Godot logo. A light blue robot head on a white background.
The Procreate logo. A rainbow colored brushstroke on a dark grey background.

My goal for Pax Stellae was simple: I wanted to lay the foundations for a project I could continue to work on post-graduation. Working on this project has allowed me to improve at pixel art and character design, while also providing exposure to a game engine and scripting language that were entirely new to me.

I aim to have most of a basic first level completed by the showcase date that I can build upon over the summer and possibly eventually release as a fully realized game.

So whatā€™s the point?
