IterativeStyles

IterativeStyles is a web-based tool for web design. Try out various font combinations and colors, see how they look together on a simple style guide and then test their application on the simple templates provided all on the web and for free.

Simple, Free and Online

It takes only a few steps to use and all without any downloads or login required!

Style Guide Editor

Simple style guide editor where you can customize colors and font styles. Fonts are shown at a few different sizes.

Templates

Desktop and mobile templates of simple web page layouts. Some have buttons and all colors and fonts are customizable as well.

  • So far I have a domain (iterativestyles.com), hosting service (Hostinger), and a live webpage done which I hand-coded to replace the older WordPress site.

All the colors, and font-families for all the Font 1 & Font 2 text can be changed in the editor. The three templates can have the colors be changed through the editor as well as the font-family corresponding to the Font 1 & Font 2 selections made in the editor. There is a working contact form and an about page. The website should look okay on most screen sizes and should work on mobile devices/touchscreens.

There is a new feature where color selections are automatically saved to localStorage and can be reset to default colors through the new “reset” button in the editor.

  • Time is a big limitation, it affected how much time I had to implement the features mentioned in my future plans.

IterativeStyles seems to be functional on mobile and other touch screens. It should look okay on mobile although it will not show the desktop view of the templates.

  • I would like to attempt to get the website to store previous font selections in the browser the same way I got it to save the color selections. I would also consider finding a way for the user to be able to save a screenshot/images of the templates through the click of a single button on the website.

  • This project was made out of my interest in good design. This was made primarily for high schoolers who have very little to no graphic and web design skills or knowledge, but who have an interest in web design. I decided to focus in on web design with this project because I am passionate about creating well-designed and functional websites and at the same time I also enjoy the idea of helping others. This is why IterativeStyles is more than just a website, it is also a web-based tool made primarily for those with little to no graphic or web design knowledge.

IterativeStyles was formerly on WordPress, but I recreated it by hand. Some of the tools I am using are Visual Studio Code, Github, Git and Trello. This project is being coded using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, but it also relies on the Google Fonts API for various fonts.

I am planning to work as a Web Developer and Designer.
